Is there a submission cost?
There is no cost to participate in the Open Call. If you are selected as a winner, the travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the Organization.
Are there any geographical eligibility requirements?
There are no geographical restrictions. The Global Award for Sustainable Architecture™ is open to all architects, urban designers, and landscape architects worldwide. To date, 90 architects, urban and landscape designers from across the globe have been recognized.
Could you confirm whether the 10 to 15-page limit includes the cover, back cover, and any separators within the document?
We recommend staying within the 15 pages, including covers.
While the portfolio presentation is limited to three projects, could you advise if there are any restrictions on the number of publications, research, or experiments that can be included? Are there also any limits on submitting relevant links, such as websites, publications, or interviews?
There are no limits. We suggest describing the three projects in detail, followed by an unlimited list of research, publications, websites, etc.
Are there any other restrictions regarding the three projects that can be chosen? For example, do they have to be built? Is there a limit on how old the project or building can be?
There are no age or design period restrictions. Projects can be unbuilt, especially if you present research or experimental work.
When applying as a collective, should the contact information provided be that of the lead architect, or can it be a designated focal point for the award within the collective?
If your collective is not a registered Architecture or Design Studio, please apply under the name of the lead architect, designer, or urban designer.
How many entries are allowed per person?
A candidate can only submit one application, composed of a maximum of 3 projects, in addition to areas of research, publications, or experimentations
Also, what would be the size of the presentation boards?
As noted in the template guidelines, you may submit a maximum of 10-15 pages. There is no file size limit for this document.
Can the work be submitted in other languages, such as Portuguese, or if they must be submitted exclusively in English?
As this is an international award with a global jury, we only accept submissions in English.
Could you clarify the eligibility criteria for built projects? Could you confirm which project completion years are still eligible for submission in this year's awards?
You may submit a maximum of three projects - no matter the year they were built - in addition to any areas of research, publications, or experimentations. Your submissions must reflect at least one of the five criteria for the year’s theme of “Architecture is Transformation” : Innovation, Transdisciplinarity, Adaptability, Regeneration, or Empowerment.
